South East Open Studios 2008

From Friday, 6th June to Sunday 22rd June.

Thirty-one Sevenoaks artists and craftspeople are opening their studios this year with South East Open Studios.

SEOS is a once yearly initiative organized by a total of 200 SE artists and craftspeople to show their work there where the art is made, in their own studios. This is its eleventh year.

In the wider Sevenoaks area five bigger sub-groups have formed into informal and temporary galleries whilst six people are showing their work individually:

Dibgate Five in Sundridge has become Dibgate Eleven with six painters and etchers, two sculptors, a ceramicist, a glass designer and a mirror designer.

Seal Etching Studio shows prints of six etchers.
In another of the Seal Studios Mandy Vane Hier and Myra Wishart exhibit paintings and glass design and in a third Seal Studio Tim Constable shows his furniture.

West Kingsdown has a group of three painters and a felt maker, Lottie Reason, Rosemary Murphy, Cindy Turner and Annie Hawkins in one studio and in Brasted Ann Kay and John Lucas exhibit paintings together.

Finally in their respective studios Lucy Batt displays glass design, Julia Cox sculpture, Ted Fox Joyce drawings and prints, Susan Horsfield paintings and drawings and Caroline Winn pottery and painting.

How to find these private studios?

From the end of May thousands of beautifully illustrated guide booklets with all the details on location and opening times etc. will be available from libraries, stations and helpful shops in the area which you can pick up free to browse in at leisure.

All information plus illustrations are also available on: www.seos-art.org.

So get browsing and come and visit these artists at home!
