The History Between Brasted and Sundridge to the east, is Brasted Place, in a large park. It was built of local stone by Robert Adam for John Turton, physician to George III, and the façade is fine and typical but the building was greatly extended in the nineteenth century. ![]() Napoleon III lived here in 1840 before his unsuccessful attempt to land at Boulogne and seize the throne of France. He used to walk the village with his tame but symbolic eagle. Brasted is an extremely pretty village situated on the A25 between Sundridge and Westerham. It lies along the River Darent which at this point is quite narrow.
