The Cantate Choir
The Cantate Choir was formed at the beginning of 2002 since when it has performed varied music programmes to a high standard at venues in the Sevenoaks area. As a local amenity the choir aims to produce high quality work which gives it the opportunity to attract high calibre professionals to work alongside it. The choir was registered as a charity in 2004.
In 2006 the Choir's versatility was demonstrated with a performance of Mozart's Requiem in March as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth, followed in June by Poetry in Music, a concert of settings of poems by well-known poets. On Armistice Day, November 11 the choir staged Remember! featuring music and readings on the theme of remembrance and recollection. To round off the year it joined the Voce orchestra in December for the performance of all six parts of Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
In March 2007, the choir again teamed up with the period-instrument ensemble Vivace! for Baroque Masterworks including Vivaldi's Magnificat and Handel's Dixit Dominus.
Members of the choir are singers with some training and/or experience and admission is strictly by audition. If you would like to be considered for entry to the choir or would like further details of concerts, please telephone John Morris on 01732 810227, or visit our website at www.cantate-choir.info

Formed in 1999 by former members of a LABBS award-winning chorus, we aim to maintain a varied and entertaining repertoire of songs ranging from popular modern music to traditional classics.
In the five years since we formed we have progressed rapidly, winning the LABBS Bronze medal in 2002 and 2003 despite having only 33 members. This year we are aiming for another medal at our annual convention in November - hopefully a different colour!
If you would like to book us for an event please contact, Alison Zdzylowski on 01732 764291. If you would be interested in singing 4 part harmony we would love to see you at a rehersal on Tuesday nights.

The Kemsing Singers

Rehearsals take place each Monday (September - May). The choir gives at least four main concerts each year under its musical director, Brenda Ross, with pianist Paul Woodward.

Singers and audiences alike enjoy the variety.

It now numbers in excess of 60 children, aged from 7 - 14, who meet each Saturday morning in term time, at Solefield School, Sevenoaks. There are no auditions and membership is open to any child who enjoys singing.
The choir is extremely lucky to have Nicholas Quiney, Director of Music at Solefield School, as accompanist.
Children come from many different schools in the area, from as far a field as Tatsfield, Orpington, Plaxtol and Tonbridge.
Highlights of the choir's year are the annual Christmas concerts in the Great Hall, Knole, given on behalf of the National Trust; the staged productions; the Promise of Youth collaborations with Sevenoaks Strings and Lisa Maybank's Footprints Dance company, and the Sevenoaks Festival days in Bligh's Meadow.
The choir presented the world premiere of Irita Kutchmy's revised version of her as yet unpublished musical: The Magician's Nephew at the Stag Theatre on Saturday 17 April 2004.
The composer invited the singers to record some of the songs from the musical for a demo cd. She also saw the choir's production of her musical version of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe in 2003.
