Sevenoaks Volunteer Centre is a co-ordinating agency matching volunteers with local organisations and individuals. The Volunteer is at the centre of our activities. It is his or her individual interests, preferences and skills that determine the eventual placement and matching process. We aim to find every Volunteer the type of work that will give them the most satisfaction. The Centre receives over 1000 requests a year for help in many different ways. It run by a team of volunteers under the guidance of the management committee and led by two paid staff members, Mandy Wynne the Manager and her assistant.

They look forward to hearing from you!

VSU is a youth action agency which aims to contribute to the informal education and personal development of young people (aged 14 – 25 years). VSU does this by recruiting young people from schools, colleges and other community-based centres and supporting them in a range of volunteer activities of benefit to their local community. VSU’s team of twenty-five staff currently work with over 2000 young volunteers across Kent and Medway, about 50% of whom are registered with the DfES Millennium Volunteers scheme.

VSU offers these young people a range of volunteering experiences, including regular weekly clubs and activities working with disadvantaged children, senior citizens, children and adults with physical or learning disabilities and refugees/asylum seekers; individual placements in the community (in hospitals, playgroups, charity shops, youth clubs, animal rescue centres, etc); and youth action groups set up by young people themselves to tackle issues or meet needs that they themselves have identified in their local neighbourhoods. During the summer VSU runs full-time holiday playschemes and projects led by young volunteers. VSU provides volunteer induction and training, supports youth committees to encourage volunteer participation in running VSU, and promotes evaluation, celebration and accreditation of all the volunteers’ efforts and experiences.
