Lullingstone Roman Villa (NT) Eynsford, on A225, near Sevenoaks. This ancient site is complete with wall paintings, wonderful mosaic tiled floors and even skeletal remains. This villa is one of the most exciting Roman finds in England. The free audio tour gives visitors a unique insight into the lives of the Romans who inhabited such villas. Oldbury Hill (NT) A25 near Ightham, east of Seal. This is the most impressive, if not the largest Iron-Age Camp in the country. The hill fort of Oldbury Hill covers 123 acres of excavated ramparts and ditches. It was built around a small hill used in Stone Age times as a shelter. The rock crags can still be seen hewn from the sandstone by prehistoric hands.There are waymarked trails to explore. |
