Kent has a long history of brewing and wine making. Vines were introduced by the Romans and hops are one of the best known products of the area.

The present vineyards were established by the Barnes Family in 1969. Planting, that began with one third of an acre, has now reached twenty-two acres. Visitors walking through the Vineyard will note that the site chosen is a gentle south facing slope in a shallow sheltered valley.

The varieties planted that are mainly of Germanic origin, include Muller Thurgau, Ortega, Rechensteiner, Huxelrebe and Dornfelder, all of which produce fruity fragrant wines with diffeing characteristics.

Admission and tastings are free. Visitors are welcome to stroll around the 22 acres of vines, set in a 70 acre estate, enjoying the tranquility of the Kentish countryside.

There are guided tours of the Winery or visitors are free to stroll at leisure through the Wine and Gift Shop, Plant Centre, Herb Garden, Grapevine Cafe, Rural Museum and 20 acres of planted vineyard.
