Sevenoaks Life is an independent website dedicated to the town of Sevenoaks in Kent and its surrounding villages.

As well as being steeped in a rich history, Sevenoaks has a living, thriving, vibrant community. It has a newly-extended shopping centre, a wonderful variety of restaurants, a large leisure centre and a theatre/cinema complex.

The town is also home to the National Trust's Knole Park with its stunning acres of deer park (open to all) and to The Vine cricket ground - the oldest in England. There is a wide variety of historic properties within a short distance from the centre and many beautiful gardens to visit.

The town is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and picturesque villages - each with strong community spirit. This site has sections on many of the villages including Otford, Shoreham, Eynsford and Chipstead.

There are many sporting facilities and the district is home to some prestigious golf clubs and equestrian centres.

Sevenoaks is an excellent place for commuters to live with a fast train service to London taking just 35 minutes, and the M25 just minutes away.

If you live in Sevenoaks, are thinking of moving to Sevenoaks or are just interested in the town, Sevenoaks Life will provide you with the information you need.

Endorsements
"I recently moved to the Sevenoaks region and was fortunate to have enlisted the services of Sally and Richard Jones. Throughout the entire process I received an in depth and honest evaluation of the properties that made my short list including photographs, schooling and surrounding area. I found the service to be excellent and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering a relocation to this area."

A brief history of Sevenoaks Town.

The Origins of Sevenoaks
The name "Sevenoaks" originated from the Saxon word 'Seouenaca', a name given in about 800 A.D. to a small chapel near seven oaks in Knole Park. Sevenoaks was historically part of the Great Manor of Otford, held by the Archbishops of Canterbury.

In 1200, a market was started in the town and due to its economic success, it made Sevenoaks a manor it its own right.
